My friend has a laptop and it has a Belkin wireless card in it that was purchased from OfficeMax. It has worked good for several months but lately has acted up. For some reason it keeps getting disabled and they cannot connect to their wireless home network. He keeps doing sytem restores (XP Home) and that fixes it but only for a day or so before it keeps acting up. Any suggestions on what the problem(s) could be?

Are there other wireless connections that are working?

Update the card drivers and/or firmware from the manufacturer website.

The way I fixed the exact same problem with this is you right-click on the internet icon at the bottom right, go to Open Network Connections, right-click on the wireless network, go to Properties, find the Wireless Networks tab, go to Preferred Networks, and then Remove all the preferred networks by highlighting each one and clicking Remove. Restart the computer- when it restarts, it should pull up the network automatically with the correct configuration. That worked for me.

If this doesn't work, call the Geek Squad.

    And the correct answer IS...

I was having this same issue, but since then I've updated the driver for the card in my tower and I've not had one disconnect since.
