Why this WMP error?

Windows Media Player cannot play this file. Connect to the Internet or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to play the file again.

What would be causing that? I can't seem to play anything on my WMP these days.

Stay connected to the internet and try playing it. Should get a different error.

I found the problem. I had the "connect to the internet" option turned off for some reason.
