Certainly the Rockets have done about as much as they could considering Olajuwon wanted more money then we were willing to spend. Signing Taylor to a longterm contract, bringing in Glen Rice, and trading for Eddie Griffin in the draft are all solid moves. The problem is that this roster is now full of guys with average to below average defensive ability. With the exception of Griffin we don't have anyone with intriguing ability at the defensive end. Cato can block shots, but he is too foul and injury prone to trust. Taylor might overachieve and be adequate while Rice consistently gets beat at the defensive end. Mobley is mediocre while Francis is above average. Hopefully Rudy can find a way to creatively use the zone to cover up these holes on defense.
