(shameless plug alert!) Swirve.com won the 2002 People's Voice Webby for gaming site of the year! The Webbies claim to be the "Oscars of the Internet" and their People's Voice award claims to be the People's Choice equivalent. We were not nominated for the main award (bastards!), but beat out Electronic Arts (nominated) and IGN.com (write-in) as a write-in vote by the people. WOOOHOOO! They have a big ceremony in San Fran to announce the awards and stuff, but alas, we were not invited (nominees only). You can see a full list of winners here: http://www.webbyawards.com/main/webby_awards/winner_list.html
No congrats to me, Bobby...this is all Major. Sure, he doesn't have to deal with our players nearly as much with me around, but he's obviously the brains behind this endeavor. Congrats buddy!
Thanks Bob and Wink! This is really cool... I don't know that it means much in the long-run, but we get bragging rights and stuff for a year Might help us in promotion of the site and getting extra publicity. Who knows. And maybe an Oscars-like trophy! And RM95 does get credit ... I'm not sure if we would still have been around if I was dealing with all those player emails. I would have had a mental breakdown!!
Congratulations, d00dz! Even if it doesn't mean much in the long-run, you still get the warm and fuzzies knowing you've been recognized. I hope you have continued success!
Congratulations guys !!! Great work !!!! RM95, you have to deal with customer emails.....ah man, I have a new respect for you.....HUGE !!! DaDakota
On some of the worse ones, I'm lucky enough to be able to give smartass remarks. About twice a day I get the always fun e-mail that reads "Major/RM95, your a ****in, **** face, rot in hell and eat ****". My reply is typically "you're sweet".
I have never been to Swirve, but congrats anyway. Now would be a good time to sell out. Sell sell sell.
