I have an internal DVD burner in my desk top and would like to burn a few video files so I can watch them from another DVD. When I try to burn I get an error message stating that I need to insert a writeable disk. I insert a writeable disk and the error returns. Anybody have any suggestions.

Additionally, I would like to burn TV shows. Is there anyone who knows how to get your hands on an RCA to bus converter?

It could be an installation problem. If you have dual drives, make sure one is in the slave position rather than having 2 master drives.

To do that, open your PC, and checkout the 8 pinned setup to each drive. There's usually a jumper on 2 slots. Where the jumper is determines which is slave/master.

Burning TV shows... well you could buy a TV tuner to put in a PC card slot, or you can just download an episode off a torrent site as the quality is usually much better than most people would bother to try on their own. Later on, you'd have to convert it to a DVD player compatable format (MPEG-2), to watch the eps on a TV/DVD player setup.

There is an electronic device called "DVD Express" at some Sam's Club locations that convert all analog to DVD or CD through a RCA to USB 2.0 connection. It comes with the software. Anywhere from $59 to $75 bucks... if you can still find them. I'm sure the "piracy levels" have made this a most hated product by the movie industry.
