I haven't been since about 1990 when I lived in Colorado; blew out both knees. I used to ski black diamonds, but didn't care for double blacks, serious moguls or serious verticals. Even though they removed cartilidge in one knee, they say I could still ski, just haven't been back yet. I'd like to buy a second home in Telluride some day. My favorites about skiing were the hot chili for lunch at on-mountain restaurants, apres ski at the bars, and heated pools and jacuzzis. I took the TTech Ski Club to Colorado one year and we put a keg by the outdoor pool. Damn thing froze, so we had to literally 'float' the keg in the heated pool to finish it off.
Double diamond baby! On my ass most of the way! But I can do most single diamonds without too much difficulty.
I like Squaw Valley, but I go to some of the other places in that area as well, Bear Valley, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood. I haven't been in about a year though.
Squaw Valley's where I learned to ski and I've been to both Heavenly and Bear Valley as well. I've been dying to go to Tahoe since I caught the gambling bug.
I froze my ass on Squaw's little 2-man lift (maybe it's bigger now) heading up to KT-22. A gale was howling over the peak, it felt like little shards of glass on your cheeks. They closed the lift behind us. The run was like ice. It was a memorable experience all 'round.
