The strange thing is i had no problems whatsoever playing a battle in the demo mode. It worked perfectly. Whatever the crash is, it certainly seems to be wide spread. I've been reading various complaints in the total war tech forum. People who have much better graphic cards than me are still having trouble with it. Activision or whoever is in charge of it hasn't said jack about it either; i'm hoping they're working on some sorta patch because i'm running out of ideas.

Here's a question for anyone who knows. Here is the list of video cards that are compatible with the game.

    ATI® Radeon 8500
    ATI® Radeon 9000
    ATI® Radeon 9500
    ATI® Radeon 9600
    ATI® Radeon 9700
    ATI® Radeon 9800
All Nvidia® GeForce 3 and higher

My question is, does the video card i posted earlier,

    NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro

fall under the category of Nvidia GeForce 3 and higher. I'm assuming its not but i know very little about video cards.

It's been a while but I believe the TNT2 was the one right before the GeForce. So I think the card is probably older than the ones mentioned.

If all you need is the any GeForce 3 you should be able to get one for under $70 I think. If you want to get an ultra new vid card of the future it could cost over $300.

    It does not.

Radeon 9500's can be had for around $75... the higher the number Radeon of course, the more money you pay. :)

speaking of ultra new video cards.

The new Nvidia card sucks so much power. My question is, why the hell don't they just make it so you can plug it directly into the wall instead of to your power supply?

That stinks. I think I have a solid 350 watts now, and I might be do for a new video card next time. If my power supply isn't enough to handle it though, I would have to replace that too.

I bought a ATI 9600 Sapphire 256 MB for just under $100 at NewEgg. Granted, it's not the best card in the world but it overclocks and is pretty good for a budget buy. I use the Omega drivers for XP which comes with a different bios to allow you to overclock plus the overclocking utility of course. I upgraded from a GeForce 2 Ultra 64 MB. I play games like Doom3 at medium detail which is good enough. So, if your looking, then this may be a good fit for you.

Well i decided to take the game back. I won't be able to get a new video card anytime soon so there was no need to hang on to a 50 dollar game i couldn't play. I went to Fry's to get a refund and all they would do is give me a new copy; said i couldn't just get a refund, instead would have to go through activision which i didn't feel like doing. So i stopped in at the EB games right next to Fry's and traded it in for ESPN 2k5. I realize i lost out on 25 dollars but the bright side i now have a game i can play.

Hopefully by the time i do get a new video card the game will have had a price drop. If not, i'll just visit a little site called suprnova.

The TNT 2 is WELL below the min spec of G-force 3 or higher.

Take the suggestions of those on this BBS upgrade that video card, and play away.

Most power supplies are over-the-top anyway. People buying 400w PS's and they don't even use 250w. I've got all kinds of crap including 4 hard drives, a dvd burner a 20 in. LCD monitor, router, USB hub, and other stuff plugged into my UPS and it's telling me I'm using 228w.

That is what I'd always heard. I originally got a 450W power supply that was cheap, and then was persuaded to try the top notch level of 350w power supply. The 350w has worked better so far.

I have no idea what I'm doing in this game - I'm getting slaughtered like I usually do in these type games, but.... it's still fun. :D
