The reason I haven't been posting much is because I haven't been able to use my cable-modem. My computer is sending out data but I haven't been able to receive any. I'm running XP home edition. Have any of ya'll had similar problems? Do you have any advice? I feel like I've tried everything. I even changed NICs but I have the same problem.

My system is fairly new: 1.6 GHz P4, 384MB DDR. This is really pissing me off, and I hate this netzero BS I'm being forced to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you call RoadRunner support? 713-335-FAST

Since you have XP, did you turn on the built in firewall, when was the last time it was working, when did it stop?

I have XP Pro on RoadRunner and I have no issues. I have the internet connection sharing and firewall enabled...

I've already called Roadrunner, and they worked with me for like 40 minutes. Just tried turning on the XP firewall. How do you setup the internet connection sharing?

    are you in Austin?

I know a lot of people in Austin who have had Roadrunner trouble over the past few weeks, including myself. i have gone several hours w/o cable modem use and many times my connection seems to time out and I have to get a new IP...

Drapg, I'm in Austin, Far West area. I have a feeling that this may be a roadrunner problem. My roommate hasn't had any problems with his connection. Maybe it's a compatibility issue with XP home. This is frustrating, because I've actually worked as a test technician at Dell and I still can't debug this crap. I've tried renewing my ip as well.

yup, i'm a little north of the arboretum, and so are all of my friends that are having RR trouble... i suspect its a Time Warner issue, rather than your machine...

do you use MSN Messenger? I know when I'm having troubles whenever the connection to the MSN Messenger server expires and my "messages received" count for my e-mail never increases...

that's when i reset my cable modem. perhaps they're getting lots of new subscribers with their new advertisement of 6 months RR at $30/month and they can't handle all the new traffic??? just a guess... i guess i should contact them and find out!

So you are getting an IP, can you ping anything? Your roommate is using his connection? Is he on your cable modem? Are you guys sharing a router?

To setup the Internet Connection Sharing/Firewall Right click on Network Neighborhood, properties. Then right click on your Local Area Connection., properties. Then click the advanced tab.
