Did Adelman and Sabonis' times in Portland ever overlap? Or was Adelman gone from Portland by the time Sabonis got there?

No, Adelman left before Sabonis got there. Then, he joined the Kings in '99.

    No.

Adelman was named interim coach for the fired Mike Schuler in 1989. Adelman was fired after the 93-94 season. IIRC the Blazers had his draft rights but Arvydas never joined the Blazers until 1995.

Arvydas Sabonis, Clyde Drexler, and Drazen Petrovic in an Adelman-run team could've been amazing. That first Bulls 3-peat from 91-93 would have been in all likeliness a Blazers dynasty instead.

...assuming Petrovic could've broken into the starting lineup of course. Adelman kept him on the bench if i recall correctly.
