Gang, We are installing a projector here at the office to play GameCube, Xbox, and Playstation 2 games, as well as show our current software off to our publisher. Has anyone tried any of the new projectors? We are looking for about 1280x1024 in resolution and at least 1000 lumens. Anyone know anything about these things? Thanks, DaDakota
Sorry, don't know about projectors, but damn that was fun. We used to play Soul Calibur add Virtual Tennis on the projector during lunch in the old IT Department where I used to work. It would get ugly. Long Live the Dreamcast!!!!! (it's already dead ) By the way, I'm jealous of your job.
DaDakota, I have done a lot of research on this, since we were needing to purhase one for my work. This may not apply to you, since we were actually looking for one to travel with - so it needed to be high quality but also light-weight/small enough to take with us on trips. But, what I came to find out is that Sharp is one of the best projectors out there. The one we just bought is incredible, one of the best pictures I have seen from a projector and everyone I hnave shown it to is amazed. So good, you don't have to turn the light out and such for better clarity. We have the PG-M20X: 1900 lumens, about 5lbs, 1600x1200 It was also a great price ($2500-3000) compared to other models, plus it is hard to find any with the specifications (especially lumens) it has anywhere near that price. If you need any more info, let me know.
oh man do i miss my old job... we used to play PS2 on a 42" widescreen plasma tv... we would also watch tons of DVDs on that thing... playing GT3 and NCAA 2002 on one of those is a thing of beauty!
Rocketball, All I can find is this one, and it is only 1024x768. Here Do you have a better source then Pricescan to find these things? Thanks, DD
I've always understood that the DLP was superior to LCD, but I don't know if LCD caught-up or not. If I were getting one, I would also emphasize lumens, contrast ratio and HDTV-ready .
DLP has issues though being that the color wheel brings up the possibilities of a mechanical breakdown. DD
So DaDa next time I am in the Austin area any chance of getting a tour of this new facility you guys are creating . I don't know a lot about projectors I have 5 at work but they are all older and out of production. They are Philips and we have had no problems with them though. CK edit: I found these 3 Toshiba models that were 1280 x1024. http://www.epinions.com/offc-Multimedia_Projectors-All-1280_x_1024_Resolution-Toshiba_Brand CK
