The original movie ran a lot deeper than most people give it credit for, so maybe something here, but who knows.
If the showrunner created Black Sails and The Office I'm in. Those are both all-time great shows in thier genres. The exec producer has some films in horror/action himself that lend themselves to Robocop as well. The only question is Prime, but their shows are quietly making a few hits. We'll see what happens.
There's a lot of issues in the old movie that's still around today. Hopefully they can make it spicy and interesting and not sellout like the remake,
Verhoven has always been very critical of Western culture and a lot of Robocop is openly mocking that culture. It’s been interesting to see how popular Robocop and Starship Troopers are among people who Verhoven is criticizing.
