This is one of the reasons I just can't root for my graduate school (UT). Because of what they did to Major, and just the whole system in general... it's a big football factory attached to a diploma mill, they gouge everyone for money everywhere they can, and still everyone brags about being associated with "The University". Not that I don't have any attachment to UT - as long as I get my diploma from the mill, that's what I came here for. There's just not a lot of reason to root for the Horns.

From the guys I now on the team, they tell me that Simms won the job in spring practice and kept it in the fall practice. He simply outperformed Major in practice. However, they don't give out national practice championships.

Simms feasted on lesser opponents like KU, Mizzou, Baylor, etc. But lack of a good offensive gameplan, as well as poor decision making hurt him in big games like OU and the Big XII championship. I wanted Simms to be pulled at halftime of last year's OU game, in which it was clear that it wasn't his day. Stoops and co. kept sending weird blitz packages with Roy and Rocky, and he was seriously confused. Major would have handled the situation much better. Ditto for Colorado.

However, the Longhorn obsession for Major has often resulted in hated for Chris Simms. There were people in the student section around me who refused to cheer for Simms and criticized him all game long.

Has Simms lived up to the hype. NO. Will he ever? We'll find out this fall, his last chance to bring a national championship to Austin.

My dad went to UT. He wanted me to go to A&M.
My father-in-law (once removed) went to UT.
I went to both A&M and UT.
I have two nephews at A&M.
I root for A&M, though as a kid I was a UT fan.
