Anyone thinking about going to Lollapolooza Music Festival at Grant Park in Chicago? This year it's August 4-6...and the line-up looks very promising. Some of the notables... Wilco The Shins Broken Social Scene The Flaming Lips Red Hot Chili Peppers Matisyahu Built to Spill Death Cab Kanye West The New Pornographers Anathallo The Rapture The Dresden Dolls Mates of State Sonic Youth Ryan Adams Sleater-Kinney Iron & Wine Of Montreal Panic! At the Disco Stars Cursive Feist The Go! Team Nada Surf Andrew Bird Theivery Corporation Considering I'd pay good money to see any of those artists, $130 for the three day pass doesn't seem so bad. Hmm...I might decide to visit my cousin in Chicago this summer...
thats a pretty good lineup. expect a few of those bands to be playing acl a month later as the booking for both events is done by the same dude(s).
Wilco - play ACL every year The Shins - Confirmed this year Broken Social Scene - Played two years ago The Flaming Lips - Confirmed this year Red Hot Chili Peppers - Rumored this year Matisyahu - Confirmed this year Built to Spill - Played last year Death Cab - Played last year or the year before, maybe both The New Pornographers - Confirmed this year The Rapture - I think they played one year, but I hate them, so I didn't catch it Ryan Adams - Played two years ago Sleater-Kinney - Backed out last year Theivery Corporation - I think they played last year
Blasphemy. But good point...as long as Wilco, Built To Spill, Anathallo, the New Pornographers, Of Montreal, Cursive, The Rapture, The Shins, and the Lips will be in Atx, it's good enough I suppose. Whenever I think about live music, I get depressed that Elliott Smith is dead and I'll never get to see him.
That's what happens when you get depressed and KNIFE yourself. How the heck do you stab yourself with a knife? You don't die instantly. You have to push the blade in. Gives me the shivers.
It looks like a good lineup. I bought tickets for the last Lollapalooza but they cancelled it. Hopefully that won't happen this year.
Most of the bands are f***ing amatuers compared to OG lineup from 1991 Jane's Addiction Nine Inch Nails Henry Rollins Band Siouxsie & the Banshees Living Colour, Fishbone Violent Femmes Ice-T's Body Count Butthole Surfers My brother drove all night to Dallas. Wouldn't take me coz I was small and I would cramp his style. He did bring me back a NIN shirt though. Now the 1993 Lallapolooza at the fairgrounds (I think), that was a lineup. Lush Jesus and Mary Chain Pearl Jam Soundgarden Ice Cube Ministry Red Hot Chili Peppers My parents dropped me and some friends off. My first concert ever, my first body surf, and my first mosh. I still have the stub. I was 13 and barely weighed 100lbs but I went into the mosh when Ministry played Stigmata.
Sounds cool and all but where are the Smashing Pumpkins? Billy said they were reuniting. The word is he and Chamberlain are working on a zillion new songs. Its Chicago... Give me somethin!
