Do you have the ANNIVERSARY version, or the regular version?

Are the controls the same? I have had Madden 2001 - Eddie George (When I bought the PS2 the first time it came out) and 2003 [Marshall Faulk].

I guess, following tradition, I should buy 2005 [all ODD numbers].

I have the Collector's edition. It's pretty cool, I havent really played with any of the stuff they packaged on collector disc. The controls are exactly the same with the exception of the right analog now does a lot more stuff, playuing defense has as many options if not more as offense now. I would definetely recoomend it

    Rented it last night.
    • Awesome new graphics. I use the S-Video connector to my HD-ready widescreen. Graphics are much better, with more details on shadows and highlights on the helmets and uniforms, even on the crowd...
    • the game already knew I had a WIDESCREEN without having to set it up myself. Cool for those with a 16:9 screen ratio.
    • After every quarter, cheerleaders come out on the screen
    • Allows situational positions of defense and offense, even has options for routes of receivers, hot route change on the spot, etc.
    • create-a-fan is not really all that great, but it's cool to play with if you have enough time
    • The "My Home Team" choice at the beginning plays videos while you're choosing game options, and for Texan fans, there is a Texan Cheerleaders surprise (swooo-eet), Sharper laying a hit on Tom Brady, Glenn returning an interception, and Domanick Davis running. Nice touch.
    • You can choose to play in any stadium, and between the OPENED and CLOSED versions of the Reliant Stadium roof
    • Also, you can choose any official kickoff time of NFL games, such as 1, 4, 6:30, 8:30 or 9 (MNF) PM, and also choose the weather
I played only one game last night, and it was cool. I think I might buy the anniversary edition just to have the extra features and because I am skipping even year numbers on the versions.

The Super Bowl presentation this year is SWEET! I just played it last night. Instead of the opening where Madden and Michaels talk, it has the players running out of giant inflatable team helmets with fireworks.

    Post-game is pretty cool too.

I have also purchased NCAA for the last 4 years and I consistently find I prefer Madden because of NCAA's penchance for blowout games. It always feels a bit more arcadey I guess. The Dynasty mode kicks arse though. I love the recruiting thing. Going from a cupcake to a 4 star team is extremely satisfying.

I was shocked that they actually put in a SuperBowl celebration this year. With the addition of player biorythms based on playing time, my wish is that 2006 will include players with drug or violence problems. I've heard that something like 40% of NFL players have been arrested or something to that extent. It would be cool if while scouting a rookie, I see a warning that says this guy has ben arrested in the past for off field problems, would definetely be extremely realistic :D

I don't know if this is new or not, but I liked how I could create a team and then actually insert them into the Franchise mode. Very nice.

I agree with MULLETMAN on every point. I rented this one as well. I only got to play it twice for reasons I don't want to discuss (reallY). That crowd stuff was ringing in my ears the whole time, and I played with UH's passing game vs. Rice in the Bayou Bucket. Dude, Roberson Stadium rocked...

The cheerleaders, fans, and coaches look almost real in there, I am beginning to think that those guys in E.A. Sports have one team of developers in NCAA and another team in Madden, and that's why NCAA looks and feels more like the real thing than Madden.

But in the end, I can't play with the Texans on NCAA, so that's why I will buy Madden... and I can't see the cheerleaders after every quarter, either... ;)
