    I met Mr. Duarte the other day and had a pretty lengthy conversation with him. He had some pretty interesting stories about players from a multitude of sports, what with his Chronicle coverage of the Astros, Texans, and Longhorns. Just for reference I believe he was the Astros' beat from '98-'02, then went to the Texans for '02-'05, followed by the championship Longhorns from '05-'07. Now he kinda just does whatever is asked of him.

    I was wondering what were y'all's opinions of his writing/coverage, if you had any? I know its pretty commonplace for the BBS to dislike Chronicle sports writers, but he seemed like a pretty nice guy (and I know that's not grounds to hate his writing!) with an interesting personality.

    I liked him. He didn't seem to have a agenda like some writers for the Chronicle. I wished his still covered the Astros instead of JJO.
