Anyone know how to pull data from a failed harddrive? I don't want it done. . but could someone point me in the direction to learn how to do it. . . programs. . . hardware. . .etc Rocket River
http://www.datarecovery.net/ it costs 100 bucks for a diagnostic evaluation. my 5 week old laptop died (i hate dell) and i did this only to find out it would cost over $1,300 to recover my data. it can normally cost anywhere between 250 and 1500. best of luck.
I wanna learn how to do it. . .not get it done. . I was wonder what special equipment or programs one may need. Rocket River
If it is a software error most semi-savvy techies can do it. If it is a hardware error you're just about boned.
As an aside, folks should backup their important data on a regular basis. Also, a good investment is a program like Norton Ghost which allows easy duplication of your hard drive as well as easy recovery to the same hard drive or a new one.
