Man, that really sucks. I'm a big fan of stand up and he was one of my favorites.

    If you believe Wikipedia :

From early on, he excelled academically and was selected to attend Camp Rising Sun, the Louis August Jonas Foundation's international summer scholarship program. Giraldo attended Columbia University.

Before becoming a comedian, Giraldo worked as a lawyer, having graduated from Harvard Law School. Giraldo spent less than a year as an associate for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom before deciding to change his occupation. Despite his prior career, Giraldo rejected that persona and very rarely discussed his days as a lawyer.

To each his own but he had the respect of his fellow comedians and was one of the greatest talents out there

Wow, from the whole "Tough Crowd" crew, he seemed like one of the more well-adjusted; but so did Richard Jeni, for god sakes.

In other news, Dane Cook is alive, happy and rich.

Did not see this one coming. It's as surprising as Heath Ledger's death. They seem way too young to go.

I used to steal some of his jokes and retell it to my friends.

    rip

i knew he went to Harvard law school... which is very impressive in and of itself... but he was an associate at Skadden Arps?!?!?!?! That is freaking outstanding! I can only imagine what his parents thought when he ditched that opportunity for comedy!

Wow.. the things I would do to work for Skadden Arps, and this guy rejected it to pursue his passion. That is incredibly courageous.

You have not watched Greg Giraldo. Guy would be the first clowning on his OD. I think the comics are showing respect.

man, I had to google this guy, as I was not familiar with any of his work with Last Comic Standing or any of the roasts... his name just wasn't a household name of common comedians in my circle.

I wish I knew more about him before he died...
