Hey guys! I need to get some granite work done for my condo's kitchen. It's a pretty small sized one and pretty standard. Anyone have a person that they might have used to do some granite work for a decent rate. Thanks in advance.
The company that my girlfriend works for does exactly that. They did all the granite in the kitchen of our new house. Here are a bunch of pics: <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/treymcglaun/NewHouse06/photo#5053769260330893570"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/image/treymcglaun/RiKYXcLPwQI/AAAAAAAAHF0/Anw67l4Kgmk/s800/New%20House%202007-04%20039.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/treymcglaun/NewHouse06">New House</a></td></tr></table> I'll see if I can get her to post or email you when she gets home.
When I built my house, I talked to about 10-15 granite installers throughout Houston. All were above $35/sq. ft. installed. I ended up finding a place over on Highway 6 and I-10 called Distinctive Granite. They did my whole place for $28/sq. ft (it was a black galaxy), including sealing it. The best thing about their work is, they fab and cut to fit on site, not at their store. This makes for a better look as they cut it to any bows in the walls. They didn't have a huge selection, only about 8-10 samples, but they had the popular ones like baltic brown, uba tuba, black galaxy, etc.
No because we got it at cost since she works there. We got the entire kitchen including two undermount sinks with the classic edge for $4k. It was a freaking steal. The name of the granite is Coffee Brown and its a Level 3 granite.
The price of granite depends on the type of granite. The more common ones are going to be cheaper. The rarer ones are gonna be more.......... expensive (duh). Consider if you get granite, with a few exceptions, you'll have to seal it every 6 months to a year. I got ubatuba granite since it rarely needs to be sealed (it's not very porous like other granites). If you want something that looks almost as good try manmade stones like Zodiaq, Silestone, Cambria, etc. I don't like the manmade stuff, because they all look alike - they're too uniform in pattern. With granite, everybody's looks different. Granite really came down in price about a year or two ago with the popularity of the manmade stuff starting to peak, so I don't know what prices are like now. I bought ubatuba granite from my builder for my kitchen for something like $2800 or $3000, I think. If you get granite, try to get something with no seams and try go get an undermount sink, if for no other reason than it looks better. lol. That's what I did.
Yeah in my mom's house we had a great granite guy but we lost his number. I want to get an under mount sink of course. I'm not going to get anything really expensive because it's a condo that i will have for about a little more than a year. It's not a long term place but for the time being i would like to have nice counter tops since the place needs and update. It's a very small kitchen and I'm sure it will be well under a thousands bucks.
