I saw the trailer a few weeks ago and was excited. Now I check out rottentomatoes.com today and search for any reviews, and to my astonishment it has a 100% fresh rating! Wow! It opens on July 30; I will be there. But what really has me more intrigued is the cast. Zach Braff from the TV series "Scrubs" has his first chance in the movies and I think he might stick. Being on "Scrubs" gives him summers off; he uses his time wisely. He wrote and directed this coming of age romantic comedy, I know how cliche'. This movie isn't the run of the mill. The cast is rounded out by Natalie Portman and Ian Holm. Just wanted to hear everyone's opinion on this movie.
I really want to see this also, but I always get a kick out of the writer/director/star trifecta. It's typically some guy, and the guy just oh, you know, ends up having sex with someone like Natalie Portman. Gosh, but he's anguished too! The worst case is Vincent Gallo (of Buffalo 66, etc). In his film Brown Bunny (which I have not seen), he apparently is writer/director/cinematographer/star, and gee, he receives very graphic fellatio (according to all reviews) from, um, Chloe Sevigny. "Yeah, okay Chloe that was okay, but let's take a five-minute break and then we need to shoot that scene again, this time with a little more feeling, m'kay?... Huh? Why do you need to call your agent?"
