Copywrite Question - Quotes

    Also those THIS DAY IN HISTORY stuff

    Is that free public domain?

    Technically, it is copywritten. :D

    On a less gramatical note, most quotes used for things like that are considered "fair use" meaning you can use them as long as you attribute them to the correct source (i.e. give credit to the author and/or publication).

    There might be a case where a quote from a speech or something like that has some sort of a trademark or copyright license - like Pat Riley owning the term "Three-peat" - but that is generally pretty rare.
