    Fitch - 83-88
    Chaney - 88-92
    Rudy - 92-03
    JVG - 03-07
    Rick - 07-11
    Mchale - 11-15

Seems about right. There were some high school coaches that were great my freshman year but by the time I was a senior, their schtick had become worn. In college, I had a great professor and took every class he offered. By the last one, I felt like I wasn't learning much or at least wasn't as excited as I had been in earlier classes, even though he was the same guy. Same dynamic with some bosses I've had.

In other words, I don't think it is necessarily a coaching thing, but rather a human thing. Though admittedly, it is likely more pronounced because of the amount of time coaches and players spend together. And yes, there are exceptions but those are just that: exceptions.
