You gotta come out Friday night for some cheesebuger and blues. The food will be provided by Christians and the blues by RocketmanTex. They're playing from 8:30-12:30. Looking forward to my first Dukes of Houston experience!!
Oh HELL YEAH! Christian's Totem is located at 7340 Washington Ave., at the NorthEast corner of Washington Ave. and I-10, next to Denny's. The burgers rock, the beer is cold, and the blues will be lowdown. C'mon out and party....starting at 8:30 PM Friday night! www.dukesofhouston.com
Amazing... I live about a mile from Christian's and I work about a mile from Lanford... and I've never been to either. That's gotta change. -- droxford
The Dukes are the Dukes. They play more gigs than Leave It To Beaver. I've never been to CT's before . I've heard the food is good, and I know the music will be. EDIT - The It's Worth It Radio link below will play 3 Dukes of Houston songs from a show at the Big Easy. The first song in the playlist is by blendt, then it's three Dukes songs followed by 2 songs each from Orange is in, Slapshifter, Modulator, Carl Hayn and the Holdouts, and another blendt song (though not in that exact order). ANOTHER EDIT - Ok, it doesn't seem to play the songs in the order I thought, but it will eventually play about 1 hour worth songs from the bands mentioned. Hope to catch the Dukes Friday, assuming the harmonica player came up with his bail money .
I can already taste the cheeseburger. I plan on getting up there around 7:00 or so...they have a few tvs to watch the game on as well.
It plays 2 from their new CD (King of the World and Attic Song and I believe it plays Lowrider with the harmonica guy. Say, aren't you said harmonica guy? The problem is that there is a technical reason why it won't play in the exact order I want it to. But it should eventually play the songs if you listen long enough. The whole playlist is about 2 hours I think. I might as well just put it on shuffle I guess.
If I can convince a couple of buddies of mine that they want a cheeseburger and some blues to go along with their beers, I'll be there. No promises, though. Hey, gwayneco or whoever else knows, who from this board is in Modulator? There's one song of there's that's come on about 3 times since I tuned into your radio station, and although it's not really my style, I gotta say it's pretty doggone catchy.
That would be subtomic - he's their bass player. Yes, it's pretty catchy. I should note that the station is very much a work in progress. Maybe I should call it It's Not Quite Ready for Prime-Time But Still Has Some Good Tunes Radio . God, I wish it were 5:20 instead of 3:20!
It'd be cool to see ya. Didn't get a chance to say hello at Rhythm Room last weekend. Digging the CD though!
The Cheeseburger was as advertized...and I am a man who knows good cheeseburgers. The Dukes were in fine form (tho they had to perform as a 3 piece outfit due to a family illness for one ot their members) and it was great meeting RM95 and his crew. I had to make an early exit, cause I didn't get much sleep last night but I enjoyed it very much.
That's right, it's my crew. Nice meeting you as well and it was great seeing gwayneco again. If you haven't seen the Dukes, you need to. Great, great music.
