So l noticed that my computer is running a little slow, and the other night it had some fatal errors in it. The problem is my Norton subscription expired and I wanted to know the best freeware programs that you all recommend for virus protection and spamware. So what I wanted to know was...

What is the best free antivirus software I can download to protect me?

Would you still recommend purchasing an antivirus software such as Norton?

Have any of you had any experience with this http://xads.zedo.com//ads2/c?a=2344...-_-Download Here Sunburst: lbA07dlhere: rg1%x and if so does it work?

I have a wireless D-Link router that leaves me with and UNPROTECTED NETWORK. Is there anything I can purchase or download that would allow me to protect this network with an encryption key or something?

The most important thing to me it protecting my computer so I dont mind dropping some cash to do so. However I would rather get if for free if I could. Any help is appreciated guys.

    Thanks in advance

Avast! antivirus is free and uses resident provider protection, which is pretty much the most stringent type. Combine that with Microsoft Defender to defend against spyware and you'll be completely set.

ad-aware - must for any computer
Anti-Vir Software - I've used it for the past year and haven't had any problems with viruses whatsoever, real-time monitoring.

That should be enough for any computer

AVG makes a good free anti-virus package. Windows XP has a built-in firewall.
