Anybody here work for Bechtel or know anything about them? I have an interview with them tomorrow, and I don't really know what to expect. The job is for Control Systems and Instrumentation, and requires some field work. Here's what I know: it's one of the largest construction engineering firms worldwide, and has a lots of operations through their Houston office. Their services are in areas such as pipelines, telecommunications, petroleum/chemical, power, and water. Can anyone tell me what this place is like, or what kind of pay I can expect?
I have never worked for them, but have several close friends that have. They told me that Bechtel has their own style in some ways, but leads the industry in others. Specifically in cost control, tracking job progress, and construction management. 5 out of 6 people I know that worked there got more money on the next job just because they had worked for Bechtel. A scheduler I know got about a 25% premium above the industry norm after leaving Bechtel- he learned scheduling and planning at Bechtel. I would apply there today if I was not already working this splendid job I have now. Everybody I know that went there prospered from it. I do not know about instruments, calibration, controls, etc. You can probably write your own ticket... Good Luck
