their #1 pick from this year's amateur draft. I'm not sure if this means they'll make an effort to sign the other unsigned picks or not. Good to see Drayton change his mind; not signing your top picks to save $3M was going to be an extremely short-sighted move.

not signing your top picks to save $3M was going to be an extremely short-sighted move.

They weren't going to NOT sign them. They put a freeze on the process to get a better feel for the labor situation. Nothing bad comes out of delaying the signings except maybe annoying the picks a bit.

a) They lose development time.
b) Once they set foot on a Div-I campus this fall, we lose their rights

Grigsby was a CC guy so b) didn't apply, but it will for the HS guys (and any college Jr's, I don't have a draft list in front of me right now).
