That was Miami true Freshman running back, Frank Gore's line tonight in the Canes 45-3 spanking of West Virginia. I know West Virginia sucks, but to have that many yards on that few of a carries is incredible. Dude almost had 21 yards per carry as an average! He had touchdown runs of 45 and 49 yards, and was a threat to go all the way every time he touched the ball. He showed why he scored over 60 touchdowns in his high school career. Clinton Portis is good and deserves to start, but I just can't believe the game Gore had. That had to be one of the best individual performances that I have ever seen for someone who's a true Freshman and only played a little over a quarter. Hell, he only played because Portis's back-up, Willis McGahee (who's also talented) got hurt! The future definitely looks bright for Gore and the rest of the Canes. If he can stay healthy, he will be a star - not only in College Football but in the NFL, as well.
The running back on my son's jr. high team recently had a game with 3 touchdowns and over 200 yards...on his first 4 carries! His carries: 65 yards, touchdown; 45 yards, touchdown; 4 yards, then a 90 yard run for a touchdown. Do colleges begin recruiting kids in the 7th grade?
