Amazing race for Lyles, personal best, it's entertaining to see people call their shot. Believe they're the best and make it reality. Congrats, two medals for the USA

IMO, Lyles win is an example of what might have happened if Sha'Carri Richardson hadn't had such a pathetic start in the women's 100m final.

They are laminated wood and cannot be exactly the same as they are made of natural materials. Tennis racquets are carbon fiber or something.

Actually, Lyles had a horrible start which is why he was so far behind. I think halfway through the race, he was still 4th or 5th. The difference is Lyles has ungodly acceleration after the start, and that, with his top speed is what brought him back. He was chasing down dudes that were running 9.7's. He was hauling ass. That was an incredible "rest of the race" by a guy who had probably the worst start in the race.

It's still amazing how fast all these guys ran and they'd still be slow compared to peak Usain Bolt. That race in 2009 is still unreal.

That's the game, and a win is a win, but it would have been interesting to see Sha'Carri's race without the rain. I've never seen a 100m Olympics in the rain but not sure if that's common.

Finally found the 10m splits for that race. If this is true, Lyles was in last place until the 40-50m mark. I can't wait for the 200m race with him, Knighton, Tebogo, Bednarek, etc. Should be a good one if everybody that's supposed to be there ends up there in the Finals.

The winning time today was the same as Ben Johnson's anabolic time in 1988.

I still don't get how Bolt broke that by a full .2 seconds.

Fwiw given the confidence Lyles now has I think the 200 is basically a WR chase for him.

Didn't those dudes already get busted a few years ago and China's anti-doping agency basically said it was something they all ate at the hotel... IOC is like "oh, ok... we believe you." lol.

Whatever that jerk chicken is, Jamaica seems to just keep producing these sprinters built like linebackers. lol. The entire sport is full of this, though. The US has had and probably still has it. Maurice Green, Christian Coleman, Tyson Gay, etc. The best one was Ben Johnson. That dude was built like a rhino with his eyes bugging out like demons were trying to escape, and I'm supposed to think he was clean? lol.
