This draft looks pretty weak though, like, Lamelo Ball? I think he's going to be a decent player, like his brother, nothing more, nothing less. There isn't that hyped generational talent in there that even makes it worth it to tank. This looks like one of those dud drafts we get every once in a while where the best player that comes from it makes like 3 All Star appearance. Like the 2000 draft, best player from that, Kenyon Martin. Warriors had a nice run.
Tanking is an excuse for: the Warriors were one of the best teams ever, but every single individual player is overrated because of that and benefited from having more all-stars than everyone else.
Media: Oh the poor Warriors. No one gave **** when our team was injured!! I'm sick of that team..always an excuse!
Good thing there's no Tim Duncan-like player in the draft, then. Which makes me wonder - would they take a big? SI currently has the top two prospects being Anthony Edwards (6'5'') and LaMelo Ball (6'6''), with Wiseman (7'1'') as the third overall pick. https://www.si.com/nba/2019/10/30/nba-mock-draft-anthony-edwards-lamelo-ball Assuming they get Wiseman and decide to keep him... Curry / Russell / Thompson / Green / Wiseman wouldn't be bad. Wiseman wouldn't be pressured to perform on offense since he has Curry and Klay, and on defense, he'd have Green to help out. Perfect situation for Wiseman, and the Warriors really need a 5.
Green now (coincidentally) has a torn ligament and D-Lo had ankle issues (must have caught glass anklitis from Steph). Engage tanking... now!
Lmao nice job Worriers. Got all the Silicon Valley dudes to get season tickets to your new arena only to have your first 20 win season in years.
best thing for the warriors was curry getting injured, if not, they were likely to either just barely make the playoffs or be a 30-40 win team. In other words a team not good enough to do much in the playoffs or a team that misses the playoffs but with a 10-14 pick. by holding out curry and klay the warriors are destined to be a bottom 3 team. Thus keeping thier lotto pick which should be in the top 5 at least.
I said it last season during the finals, it’s the curse of the oracle. They moved arenas and all of a sudden this team is falling apart and getting hurt left and right.
Warriors are basically unwatchable now.....and this season.... "The Warriors are scheduled to make 30 national television appearances, with five games on ABC, 12 on TNT and 13 on ESPN. The Warriors are currently scheduled to have an additional 12 games air on NBA TV"
People who are making the TD comparisons need to take a chill pill because the greatest component in the TD situation is Tim Duncan himself...ie Warriors would need a Tim Duncan level of talent to bring themselves back to contention. If they just have an ordinary lotto talent then sorry that scenario ain't happening. Warriors may be tanking but the injuries to Curry are very real, thats what 6 seasons of back2back finals appearances? The grind on his body is undeniable and with him getting old and Klay getting an ACL their dynasty days are likely behind them. Warriors should think of rebuilding around DLo and their new lotto pick next year instead of clinging to their old and decrepit big 3. Warriors are done...finally.
If they don’t bring Curry back and Draymond and D Lo miss a fair few games with suspect ‘injuries’ I’ll be very interested to see if the league does anything regarding what is quite clearly blatant tanking. Weren’t they supposed to be trying to stamp this out? I guess the lottery odds helps but when it’s just absolute blatant tanking, you’d think the league would do something about it.
Warriors are smart anyway, they knew they were not going to win this season and they're about to come back much better next season, the Rockets could've done a similar thing few years ago instead of getting that 8th seed at all costs with a dumpster fire of a team/lockeroom which costed them a lottery pick that could've turned into one between LeVert, Prince, Beasley, Bembry, Murray or even Siakam.
