Both great players. Both leave us for more money in July.

They treated House like a triple a baseball prospect and never paid the man!

The fact that House can dribble already makes him better than Ariza.
His ability to drive and make the pass or a pass is huge. Not only do teams have to respect his shot but the drive as well. Having a defender on his heels guessing is your best friend in basketball.
LRMM and Shumpert have unfortunately offset each other. I was hoping to get more out of Shumpert but too little to late, Green and House have done a hell of a job playing the 7th and 9th man.
I 100% agree that this team is deeper I’m just hoping we can pull it off in the 2nd round.

I don’t think it’s really fair to compare Ariza/House because they bring different, but important things to the table.

Ariza was absolutely huge with his defense on Durant. Even when Durant had great games, Ariza made him work pretty hard for it.

House obviously brings more offense. So if Tucker can do a solid job on Durant (You’re never going to stop Durant, just try and make it as difficult as you can), then I think House could fit in better than Ariza. That being said , I still can’t compare the two.

Fair enough, the numbers in two playoffs years were bad, that's not debatable, but personally i like to consider the situation/s we were into, that 2015-16 team was just a disaster that shouldn't even be in the playoffs to begin with, lockeroom in turmoil, Dwight being Dwight, J.B coaching...all of this ended with those 5 games against Golden State, it's a small and particular sample. On the last season tbf, even if you take away the last three games, i think he was still shooting around 30% so, yeah, not that great (even though still better than House so far, fwiw), but i'd say it's more one mediocre shooting post season in 3 years so...

Let’s see how he does vs GS before we declare him superior. I’m not sure what rotation coach will use once we beat Utah but if House has to defend KD, his offense might drop off like Ariza.

Ariza on them Lakers, Magic, New Orleans and Wizards and even when he was on the Rockets the 1st time.

He was pretty good, bad handles, but everything else. He was just getting old.

There is a time when the younger player overtakes the older player. Normal.

True or not, it would not have made House a starter over EGo.

What is there to overrate or to rate at all?

Ariza was here when House did not exist. Ariza formed a trifecta of Defense with Luc and Thicc.

That is just how it was back then. Those are all the lengthy defenders this team had during last season.

Ariza's departure paved the way for House and all those guys.

I hope people here understand now that a player can go ice cold.

Harden 0-13 during the first 3 quarters of the 3rd game in the Utah Series.

Yeah. If EG dribbles more than 5 times, it's an automatic turnover. If EG starts playing with the ball, might as well start walking the other way; that will be a lost possession.

One more reason to re-sign Rivers. When CP3 got injured, EG ran the point at times. I've no idea how he survived running it, but he did. Not disagreeing with you, EG doesn't have the handles to be a pg full time.
