Alex Jones- comic conspiracy theories many adults in the Austin area tune in to for entertainment , aggressive activism but has never used violence . Banned from twitter.

Kardashians - target young impressionable girls with lip fillers, botox, appetite suppressant lollipops, opiate teas for weight loss, nose jobs, body dysmorphia to build their brand. Inject chemicals into body and keep modifying it to be liked. Billionaires, most popular twitter user.

    I vote option C.

People who give them both more attention and publicity by creating internet threads about them.

Alex Jones by a country’s mile. People are harassing the parents of the Sandy Hook victims because of him.

This is a good point. Im not a Kardashian fan at all. However if a celeb is going to run their mouth and use their fan base to voice their opinion, at least do something about it.

Kapernick's initial protest had merit. Now he's turned into an attention w****. If he was truly concerned, he would be outraged how the protest and outrage has shifted from police brutality to making about the NFL and Trump. Him and Nike are now making millions off of the division in America. Its quite disgusting.

There is a basic "risk mansgement" assessment here.

Losing crazy conspiracy believing escapees from mental asylums as users is less bad for the brand than the bad PR from keeping Jones on the platform.

Losing frivolous teenage girls is fat, far far worse than any bad PR from keeping the Kardashians on the platform.

Corporations are gutless and spineless. They stick their finger in the air to measure which way the wind blows on all these decisions. The only thing they really care about is what will satisfy users. If society goes insane and pedophilia becomes all the rage, Twitter will become the biggest pedophilia supporter you've ever seen.

This is a case of the supremacy of mob rule, and the mob has ruled that Jones is unacceptable, while the Cardashians are not.

This, in fact, is fundamentally what capitalism is about - he who gives people what they most want wins.

With the internet, Everything is a Platform. That's the new reality with companies and self driven people trying to profit.

I don't really know or care what Kap represents. I care about the original problems in question, but those are still ongoing and kap sure as hell doesn't own a monopoly on that.

The Kardashians have far more reach. Alex Jones only has a few million rabid morons that follow him. He is not as popular as people think, very few of his YouTube videos (like less than 10%) eclipsed 1 million views.

I know very little about these two

    But..

message of fear, hate, anger, separation, divisiveness is much more harmful than message of you aren’t good enough as who you are.

It’s close though. The latter is almost an inherit outcome of the capitalist system, is extremely common and put so much pressure on society to consume and obtain junk.

Kardashians encourage self harm via chemical injections and surgery... there's no way around it. If young girls were secure and had personalities, they would be off the air tomorrow. Forget about college age girls... it starts before pre teens. It's not just implants or nose jobs or tans. It's the constant appetite suppressing lollipops, fat loss pills, lip fillers etc. they endorse, a never ending chain of chemicals that feed their supply chain.

Jones is comic relief. I know people who listen to him and they're like... "he's crazy!" Kind of like Jim Carrey. It's basically political smut. I get that it's annoying to normal people and they don't want to deal with him, but why are social media hegemonies banning him and not the trash targeting young females and rap culture? One of them happens to be twitter/instagrams most popular issue so it's not a small, niche target audience like Alex Jones. I have an issue with hypocrisy.

So when he peddles a conspiracy theory that the Sandy Hook massacre was a lie, that's just a big joke? t's strange to me that there are people who find stuff like that funny.

There are two separate issues here. 1. Who is more socially destructive, and 2. Who deserved to be banned.

Websites can ban users if there is enough evidence that they are serially violating the rules of the site. Which rules have the Kardashians violated?

What has Alex Jones violated besides being an obnoxious conspiracy theorist? What has he done that Trump hasn't? Bill Clinton violates young interns but is still a huge political figure today with a supportive wife.

Social media isnt about black and white rules that govern your mind , it's about the subtle impact of influencers.

The Kardashians are predators. They target young impressionable girls with low self esteem and sell unnecessary products laced with chemicals to them - as long as you look good in a selfie. You need it to attract rich rappers and athletes. Is it physically healthy to walk around with chemicals in your lip? On fat burning pills and appetite suppressants? If social media doesnt regulate what they endorse, then they are part of the problem.

Being an obnoxious conspiracy theorist is not, in itself, a violation. They banned him from their platform because of harassment.

Now, that is a very pliable charge that one can exploit to boot off all sorts of unsavory people from social media that they think are harmful. But I don't think the Kardashians can be targeted on that basis.

Alex Jones is spreading hate to lead to violence. I run into people who actually believe now that Sandy Hook was staged - he is no comic and anyone who thinks that is either the stupidest person on the planet or is sinister.

Senator doesn't seem smart enough to be sinister

Breast implant and whatever else body and image improvement happen way before her. The I’m not good enough has been with us way before her. If you want to slow down this, you have to pretty much ban all companies that profit from feel good, look good product and services.

The hate for parent with kids murdered hasn’t been with us as a norm, thx god. You see it as comic, but others took it seriously and act upon it. This is the one example of harm to others that I know of. I don’t know what other crazies he spew but just given that some took it seriously, it’s clearly can’t be only classified as just comic.

While I prefer not to see self harm, that’s a choice each individual make. No one make the choice to be harmed by others and jones has already accomplished that with his hate speech.

From your own words, one individual encourages SELF harm. The other promotes harm unto OTHERS. Are they equal?

People like Senator don't think inciting violence against the left is wrong - they like it. So naturally they will go through whatever insane hoops and bizzaro logic to make him a martyr and back him
