you are partially correct. i gave $30-40 around 8 years ago (i don't know why my status never changed). i should probably give some again though. it doesn't help though that i'm currently a part time server that goes to school, while paying child support and taking care of my 3 times nights a week.
Just finished The Revenant (Punke) and In the Heart of the Sea (Philbrick). Both great reads. Those were some tough and ballsy people back in those frontier days. Not sure we make too many like them these days.....
Check out Revenants R-Rating reason Rating: R (for strong frontier combat and violence including gory images, a sexual assault, language and brief nudity)
Has anyone read the Red Rising book series by Pierce Brown ? The final book in the trilogy is coming out on the 9th of February. I really can't wait to read it.
Red Rising series is awesome and I can't wait for the new one. I'll probably go to the Pierce Brown book signing here in Austin on Valentines Day. I'm currently re-reading Golden Son to prepare for the new release but I'm already almost finished with it so will probably just go back and re-read Red Rising. Anyway, for those who haven't read these I highly recommend.
Awesome. Great to have another fellow admirer here. I didn't know he was coming to Austin but it'll be difficult for me to drive all the way from Houston plus I get uncomfortable in large crowds. In case you didn't know, the first three chapters of Morningstar have been released online. Here is the link in case you wish to read them : redrisingbook.com/MORNINGSTAR3CHAPTERS.pdf
The last time I liked a book so much was Anthony Ryan's Blood Song book but the two follow ups weren't as good as the first. For Red Rising though I felt the second book was even better. Plus I really love the way the author writes. Very lyrical and evocative.
Wrapping up In Cold Blood - fantastic (and scary) read. Debating moving to Black Mass (wife wants to watch movie), Unbroken, or Breaks of the Game afterward. Speaking of Breaks, 2016 looks like a great year for Basketball-related books: Boys Among Men by J. Abrams Chasing Perfecting by A. Glockner The Legends Club by Feinstein Can't wait!!
anybody into non fiction? Red Notice by by Bill Browder. About business/politics in Russia. Reads like a thriller.
Yes, both books are great and still really good the second time through. I'm pumped about Morningstar but I'll be sad when the series is over.
Did you end up reading the three body problem? I just finished the second book in the series, and the third is going to be released in July. Excellent Sci Fi
