This happens every 4-6 years like clockwork.

    Nothing getting real. Nothing changing.

Although the ways people justify the name or practice denial about the inappropriateness and history of it is pretty amusing.

It's like having a team named the "Darkies" or "Crackers".

Redskins just need to bury the hatchet with the offended parties.

    Did Marion Barry get re-elected?

This mayor must also be smoking rocks if he thinks threatening the Redskins with stadium location will work. Fed Ex Field is almost brand new. The Redskins will be fine.

Well...not quite. FedEx is almost 15 years old and has a history of bad sightlines, constant construction and removal of seating, a poor field surface along with many other problems. I think Danny is open to the idea of builing up a new more technologically newer, non boring, ring of seats that has plagued FedEx. It is a poor experience for fans. Id say that Danny would be ready to change stadiums and location in the next 5 years.

With that said, Mr Mayor would be run out of town if he lost a shot at landing the Skins in DC. Or if his mouth made Danny break ground even further away from DC.

Syracuse successfully made the change seems like a decade ago. The Bullets I think has less success maintaining their brand, but it didn't really matter. It was bad anyway. Wizards has just been equally as bad.

I think if they Were Called the Washington Red, that could be a winning identity and brand.

But in general I think those offended need to try not be offended. People need to let stuff go, whether it just be a word, or an action. Bottling stuff up like that won't lead to a happy life. Love voices of change. We need them, but not here in my opinion.

They should name themselves the Redcoats and be the Patriots new rivals.

does anybody know about the history of redskins original owner. redskins were the last team to integrate. he also didn't want a team in dallas because he had the southern market to himself.

Normally, I'd agree. However the term "Redskin" is just as demeaning to indigenous people as the n word is to black people.

The difference? There's a lot more black people, and they have more spending power.
