Got released by the Colts today. He might want to stick it to the Colts organization, in that case, no better team to play for than the Texans. Thoughts?
He'll be of no help this year. (Not that they're going anywhere.) Colts released CB Vontae Davis. Veterans are subject to waivers after the trade deadline, but it is highly unlikely he is plucked off the wire. Davis has not played well this season, reportedly needs season-ending groin surgery, and any team which claims him would be on the hook for the $4.24 million left on his deal this year. One of the premier corners in the league at one point in the not too distant past, Davis played six seasons with the Colts after being acquired in a trade from the Dolphins in 2012. He was in the final year of his deal. Colts RCB Vontae Davis needs groin surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Davis has battled groin problems for more than a year. He will finally undergo surgery to address the issue. The Colts will move forward with Rashaan Melvin and Nate Hairston as their starting corners. Davis has had a falling out with coach Chuck Pagano, even if Pagano is likely on the way out. Davis' contract is up after this season. The Indy Star doesn't expect him back in 2018. Colts GM Chris Ballard said Vontae Davis "hasn't played very well." Davis was held out last week at Houston and showed up on the injury report as a limited participant on Wednesday. However, Ballard said Davis was cleared of his groin injury earlier this year and suggested the real issue has been his on-field performance. Davis was furious after his benching in Week 9, saying he felt "disrespected." A two-time Pro Bowler, Davis holds PFF's No. 84 grade out of 115 qualifiers at cornerback. Expect the Colts to move on from Davis when his contract expires this offseason.
Something funky going on here. Sounds like Colts didn't think his declining play was due to injury, and that they didn't want him to have surgery. So he sought another opinion and that doctor said he does need surgery? Gotta be more to it than this? I never thought Davis was as good as his headlines.
We should sign both Bennett and Davis in the offseason [EDIT: If healthy!]. I wouldn't mind either of those players coming to town.

I'd take a flyer on him... don't really need him this year anyway since this season is a wash but would be nice to go into next year with another veteran corner.
Martellus Bennett goes on massive Instagram rant about Packers’ doctor BostonGlobe Sooo, he needed surgery when he was with the Packers... But he's going to play through it with the Patriots? This would've have anything to do with Aaaron Rodgers being IR'd and the Pack having no chance at the Super Bowl, would it?
So many storylines in sports, at the moment. NFL: Kneeling. Elliott's suspension. Injuries to Rodgers / OBJ / Watson / Sherman. Bennett's drama. Gordon's insistence that he's clean and can play for the Browns NBA: LiAngelo Ball. Boston exceeding expectations with injuries. Greek Freak with MVP written all over him. OKC being trash despite splashy acquisitions. CP3's injury. Simmons and Fultz (#1 picks in consecutive years) at different ends of the spectrum. There's never a dull moment.
