What a moron, people forget how Rudy changed the whole NBA game. Hakeem was getting so much attention in the lane Rudy's adjustment to use Horry or Mario as the post entry passer was genius. No one was using their other big to stretch the floor. Double teams were late allowing Dream to use his quickness to attack, if the double was early he simply passed it out for a open three. It was the 4 out with a monster inside. Rudy created the stretch 4 and ultimately the stretch 5.

Rudy picked up a good enough team to make it to 7 games against the Sonics in 93-94. He was the right coach at the right time for a connected and hungry veteran team.

Rudy earned that 15 game opening season streak the year after.

Also unmentioned was the work he did the repeat year he pulled CBA players (pre D-League) out of thin air and remade that group into another championship team.

The only reason that was even possible was being a step ahead with what the team needed and the mismatches they'd exploit.

That Worlds team he built that was one shot away from Gold was all scrubs that Rudy picked up.

Who is Chucky Brown? Ask the fat dude on TNT.

    The funny one.

How did this dude think Don Chaney was the reason ?
He won coach of the year cause he did a pick and roll with Kenny and Otis Thorpe that for some reason was unstoppable in 92 93

    @Clutch
For an organization with only two titles people get our history all wrong
    All wrong

Because he thinks just throwing a bunch a players together makes a team. It’s the argument of a chump, someone who doesn’t understand the game at its most basic form.
Maximizing talent was Rudy’s greatest attribute. You don’t win back to back championships against more talented teams without that.

Don Chaney got fired after winning Coach of the Year.

Don Chaney was a former nba player and legend in his own right.

Don Chaney was a victim of his own success, and Chaney is a part of the lucky few to have been afforded multiple opportunities on the biggest stage.

Rockets need to hire Maxwell and Scottie Brooks. Clyde and Bullard have represented themselves well along with bill worrell!

I miss the 90s and those 94 & 95 teams. What a thrill to watch them compete in the playoffs led by Dream.

And we were a jumper away from getting to the WCF in '93 too.

This is not a one off
Like maybe 100 people in the world know
The real history of the 90s Rockets
    It seems like

I’m blaming for the former owner for changing logos and uniforms and strictly focusing on foreign fans instead of overall promotion of the city and history

A good number of times. Because Coach of Year goes to someone that "over achieves"...and hard to catch lightning ina bottle twice.

The guy doubled down on it too..saying DC wasn't treated fairly. I responded directly to him on Twitter when he said that asking him why he felt that way, and he never responded. At the time Chaney got fired that team was going nowhere fast. I was at the Timberwolves game that night where we lost and fell to .500...and I remember telling the friend I was there with that Chaney wouldn't survive that. The team looked lifeless and the energy was gone. He was fired that night. ....the rest is history.

DC was not the right coach. He didn't know how to use Hakeem and the players around him on either end of the floor.

Rudy T was superior on both ends. The Rockets became a better defensive team, and they spaced the floor on offense becoming a better team on that end as well. Hakeems numbers improved so much with Rudy T.

Plus Rudy T had a big hand in adding Cassel, Elie, and Horry - all 3 major pieces.

Vernon proves my point that nobody knows anything about Rockets history in the 90s
