Ricky got Brooks and Jones. But they didn't fit someone's offense

Brooks was let go because of his misdiagnosed issues with ulcers.

Jones was let go because of money and they thought Martin would be an upgrade.

Both dumb decisions. Brooks was good even with ulcers

This again, cool. So it was BOB who got Osweiler, got rid of Brooks and Jones, but Rick who got Watson? Just want to make sure I'm keeping up with who is responsible for what. Man did we let the wrong guy go.

They're both responsible as they work together, but ever since the O'Brien got here the offense has been bottom 10. I think they should have both been fired. Crennel is obviously the only guy who knows what he's doing here.

And it was actually Kubiak who got Brooks and Jones, Rick just filled out the paperwork.

Brooks might have left no matter if the Texans wanted to sign him.

Except for 6 games last season when they were the number 1 offense in the league, including the 2nd best rushing yards per game despite how BOB uses Lamar. But I know that is only Watson, any good or positive is because of anyone but Obrien.

Yes he gets credit. And blame for the team imploding without their starting qb, which somehow Minnesota and Philly avoided

Wait, when did Minne lose their QB? And Foles was MUCH better than anything we had to play with over the last 5 years are you kidding? And it wasn't the team, it was the defense. The defense was TERRIBLE all season, even with Watson, the difference was he kept it up. When Watson went down, ALONG WITH HALF OUR TEAM to injury, Savage couldn't keep up with how many points the defense allowed. In fact, everyone likes to blame BOB for the Watson losses as well, but I think Corey Moore, and that secondary cost us all 3 games...

Agreed on all of your pointers. Some fans only see red when it comes to the real reasons why we lost certain games. They're too busy pointing the blame on one or two individuals.

Are we still doing this? Everyone blames Rick Smith for everything the Texans have done wrong and when someone hints at putting some blame on O'Brien, someone comes out and acts like the whole world is against O'Brien. O'Brien gets a ton of credit like being called an offensive and QB guru even though his offenses and QBs weren't that good. When the defense was carrying the team, he got all the credit for his 9-7 division championships. Then the defense struggled now it's on the defensive coach and the Corey Moore. Really???
He's the head coach. He's responsible for what goes on the football field. Good and bad. Not to mention the questionable play calling at the end of the Patriots and Seattle games. Tom Brady and Russell Wilson should never have gotten the chance for game-winning drives. Yes, the defense struggled. The db struggled. Last I checked the head coach is still responsible for the whole team.

And to @Mr. Clutch's point, Minnesota went to to the division champ with backup QB Case Keenum. Foles was a castaway that nobody wanted until he got back to Philly last year.

    Keenum was Minnesotas backup.

Obrien chose to bring back Weeden. And he chose to start Savage over Watson.

Yes the defense was bad last year. First year it's been bad since Crennel got here
