because all our trades have also needed to involved taking back less salary. not to mention, taking back butler would have meant needing to re-sign him to a MAX next summer which would have put our payroll at $125M+ just for our top 4 players -- no f'n way tilman would agree to pay for that

i think the context matters here and when you look at the absolute stiffs wilt was easily scoring on and dominating back then, vs the developed modern players and sophisticated defenses harden has been battling every game -- maybe we should really just be referring to wilt as beardless harden :D

Covington and Saric is way better than a package of old Tucker and overrated, low BBIQ Ego

Saric is young and has potential way better than EG and Tucker by himself. Also Minny is in the West they wanna send Butler East so highly doubt they trade Butler unless Rox gives up the whole farm for him.

What I saw was Gordon was the difference in the first half then their Gordon type (Shcroder) got hot in the 2nd half. All the super star showed up to play last night. It was a good game and I think our team will grow from it. Better now then the playoffs if it’s going to happen.

CF has a meltdown after every single loss. No team is winning every game, not even GSW.

Top 5 in west while team is not 100% healthy, figuring out chemistry with rusty players/new additions and far from final iteration is excellent considering how team started season. Cry after all star break if necessary.

    Tough loss.

Not the end of the world.

Capela's return will do a lot to fix the rebounding issue.

I've always felt Tucker was overrated. He can't hit layups in traffic. When he gets a rare rebound on the offensive end. He will put it back up and either miss, or get blocked because he can't even jump over a telephone book. His 3 point percentage if free falling.

Cp3's contract is not that rediculous. At his age he's here for the playoffs.
    B. The owner is a business man. When Tillman can charge Lakers and Knicks ticket prices and the entire arena is filled every night, then he will spend. Cheap ass fans = cheap ass owner. No businessman as successful as Tillman is there to lose money.
    C. He paid a ton of money for Ryno and it lead to us being strapped and unable to trade him except for a dead leg Knight and a bag of rocks named Marquis. Flexibility is needed to make roster adjustments. He paid James, he paid cp3, he paid Clint... he paid our main core. We still have 3 roster spots open. If we really do get one of the twins or at least a defensive player with height... this team will be scarier than last seasons team entering the playoffs.

imagine if Morey made the same moves this year and CP3 took 20mil/year instead of 40 (because no contender was going to pay him more than 20 last summer) and we moved EG or Tucker for an expiring. We would have enough space to sign a legit star player or 2 really good role players this summer.

But instead we're stuck with this core and have to sign vet mins and buy-out targets until Cp3's overpaid contract ends. So sad, wasting Harden's prime while every other contender has gotten deeper or just straight out better.

The man has taken over ariza's role on being everywhere on defense. If we get a real ariza or luc player at the 3, tucker will be alot more effective on the other end of the floor.

OH yeah because CP should just hand out 80 mln dollars out of his pocket so billionaire Ferrita can save him some taxes. Hell nah let that legend get his bread and let the ownership figure it out!

After early in the game Gordan turned to lump of coal; he couldn't hit anything, not even a layup. There are always reasons teams win or lose. It is usually a complex set of factors. Yes, our "support cast" isn't an elite group, but the game is more than that. Without Capela, we are not the same team.

There's an important idea in the NBA called "size".

Faried and Tucker are big SF/small PF size trying to rebound with Cs who have six inches on them. Thats not a talent thing.

The real question is why Morey has never felt the need to roster another consistently playable 7 footer next to Clint.

Just hanging with the Thunder without Clint is impressive in its own way, though I realize this isn't the thread to say that.

They can be as small as they like but if they want to be given significant court time then they must contribute in one way or another. If Tucker can't defend or catch a rebound then he at least needs to hit 3's. Faried's only role on this team is rebounding and if he can't rebound then he must defend and if he is not showing any activity on that end then we might as well play a guard in his place who at least can contribute offensively.

I understand our cap situation has handicapped our ability to add any significant talent but we can't entrust major responsibilities on these veterans if they do not perform. In that case there is no risk to distribute some minutes to young players such as Vince Edwards or Isaiah Hartelstein. These veterans cannot be justified being given 40 minutes a night and not be accountable for their lack of contributions.

So OP "likes" the Rockets, but a lot of them suck bitterly. And he wants you to know this.

I agree with you on the offensive end. There's no excuse for Tucker missing 3s and Faried missing layups.

But defensively everyone is playing a little bit outside of their roles without Capela. His return is going to solve a lot of problems, which is why my biggest irritation with the trade deadline is that we weren't able to get another lane-clogging / rim-protecting big.
