Summit had one practice court upstairs. We won 2 championships with that “meager” facility.

When the Toyota Center was built, there were 3 locker rooms. A smaller Visitor locker room, and two huge locker rooms for the men's NBA team and the and ladies' WNBA team. After Les Alexander sold the Comets, he refused to allowed the Comets to use or play their WNBA games in the Toyota Center. I heard he then tore down the ladies locker room and converted it into another practice court. So there are two practice courts now under the West Clubhouse. I always wondered why the Rockets received another practice court when the Comet's locker room was replaced. After seeing pictures of other teams' practice facilities, I see why now.

Tillman and Morey(who has seen the plans) are on record saying we are getting a new facility and the idea is for the facility to be an entertainment district of some kinds. So either he's building in an existing entertainment district or he's building an entire new entertainment complex full of Landry's properties and a new basketball facility.

If I were to guess, Tillman will build something on/near his recently opened The Post Oak Hotel on the same property of Landry's Inc. HQ. That entire area is really high end and despite almost no room left to build out there there is still one small space on the property used as a surface lot on corner as well as the corner of Post Oak and 610 S which is an empty grass lot. It just makes too much sense for a guy in the hospitality business to use his other business to do business if you know what I mean. It also makes sense from a location perspective as it's relatively central and not out in the burbs.

Actually, Texans have a pretty crap training field as well. They practice inside that dark bubble, when they could afford to build a super nice stadium facility.

Nor should you have, because they are 2 completely unrelated things.

Well it sounds like the Mavericks aren't as smart as the Rockets. The Rockets don't allow concert goers to use the practice court during concerts, thus allowing the Rockets to continue to use their facility.

    Rockets 1 > Mavs 0

"We went down to Galveston. We wound up in an old high school gym...but the atmosphere was work ethic. You know, here we are in this little high school gym and we're gonna go to work. And right from the beginning, everyone is on the same page. And that's where we started. And that was the key, I believe, to the success of this team." - Rudy T., speaking about training camp, 1993

For sure, when the Aeros left, he tore down their locker room to make more space for the rockets. The Aeros old lockers can be found upstairs in the concourse. He put in a pool I think, and a half court, and expanded the weight lifting equipment if I recall the facts correctly.

The best part about this location is the traffic! Rockets players will have no problems getting in and out!!!

lol.... but it absolutely makes sense to monetize it in some way.

Gus and Mike set-up a sweet basketball court, work-out facility and clubhouse for the Germans, in like one week.

    Just sayin'

And the Warriors have 3 courts... more than anyone.. and they are a dynasty. But that's a silly point to make as well because the practice facility isn't what is going to make a championship team or not. It's not about that, and I don't know why people keep making that straw man argument.

Rockets were the best team in the league last season, so maybe these other teams need to downsize.

We must call a special election for a taxpayer-funded bond to build Tillman a $500 million facility for his overpaid athletes to practice in!
