I'm sure Elis is gonna be gone soon. He is too good to remain in the MLS for long

Well, can't say I'm crushed about losing Torres as I just thought he was too inconsistent. He's a talented player and I wish him luck.

Hopefully we can get a full season out of Elis but he has to take whatever opportunity he can. If a club like Brugge comes calling, he has to listen. That's an opportunity to play in the Champions League. They're leading the Belgium league by a lot.

Same on Beasley. Let him be on someone else's injured list.

I know they've been pushing for this since Beck's retirement. It's akin to the NFL trying to get a team in LA. I just have a hard time imagining how it's any more successful than the previous attempt.

I wish the league would slow down. Let the level of play catch up to the growth. They're spreading things too thin. Plus, if there's any hope of a promotion/relegation system, it gets further and further away with every expansion team. I certainly wouldn't spend hundreds of millions of dollars to create a team from thin air with the threat that we might get moved to a lower division after a poor season.

I agree that the league is spreading itself way too thin

However, I can say with confidence that there will NEVER be a promotion/relegation system in this country in any sport. Not only would nobody invest the way they are now, but fans would totally lose interest if their club became essentially a minor league franchise

Completely agree. I only mention it because it seems to be a platform issue for all of the candidates running for USSF Prez. I don't know why it's on the table...same with changing the MLS calendar (How in the hell are the 3 Canadian teams, Minnesota, or any of the other northern teams supposed to play games in January?). So many other pressing issues that require actual and immediate change.

Rico Clark signs with Columbus, he was the last original Dynamo player on the roster
Oh ok. I haven't been keeping up with that stuff. But I agree

I'm very sure they will make a tribute video of him when he goes back here in Houston. Thank you, Rico.
BTW, he might come back to Texas when Columbus moves to Austin in 2019.

Also, we could be looking at a future star for the Dynamo, Marcelo Palomino, he recently played for the U-16 USMNT this past year.

That's still a big IF. They rejected the original site for the stadium. I don't think the city council is going to allow already existing public park space to be used.

Up to a year ago I thought the same way but now I've come around. I truly think there will be Pro/Rel in Soccer in America. Not in the next couple of years but I think in the next 5-10 years. TV incentives for both divisions would be needed to placate the owners. I don't think fans in Louisville, Indianapolis, Sacramento, Charlotte, would lose interest if their club ended up in the 2nd division. Would Houston, Seattle, Portland, LAG fans lose interest if their club ended up in the 2nd division? I don't think so...unless (w/ some teams that never actually had to play in the USL/NASL before getting MLS entry) they end up in the 2nd division for several years and aren't competitive or in the mix for promotion. Then the blame falls on the front office and coaching. Plus it also depends on what type of pro/rel idea. Michael Winograd had a pretty decent idea for Pro/Rel in the USA.

Anyway I think it'd work even moreso than changing the calendar. ( I think changing the calendar is a worse, unnecessary idea).

They took Butler Shores off the table, as they should, and now Roy Guerrero Park is the favored site.

The locals don't want it there, but I'm not familiar enough with that area to have an opinion.

Don't like that site. Played many many years at Krieg Softball park which is part of it. It's right off the river on Pleasant Valley between Riverside and Cesar Chavez.

The city owns 20 acres at the old Home Depot on 35 and St. Johns. It's just land wasting away. It's easy access from 35, 183, and 290. Can be built to have a view of downtown and isn't using existing green space. Not sure why that isn't the #1 site.
