In the off-season thread, someone posted to pay attention to the Jalen Ramsey's situation going forward. Why not Clowney and 23 for Ramsey and 7? If you want to go bold throw in 55 for 38. I think at that point, Jacksonville says no, though. Yes, it's an indivision trade, but it helps both teams. The Texans get help to shore up the secondary, which is a HUGE need. They also get the number 7 pick which may enable them to take their pick of tackles, their biggest need. The Jaguars get 23, which will still enable them to get a top 3 corner in the draft to replace Ramsey. They also get Clowney, which gives them an elite pass rusher, which they've always needed. Other than it being between division rivals, this trade makes tons of sense.
So you want the Jags to give up the better player and better pick and maybe even a second better pick? This is crazy. If we could get Ramsey for Clowney straight up, I’d do it and wouldn’t even think twice.
Honestly, I agree. Jalen would feel a huge need immediately. Then, we could focus on two tackles and only one corner in the draft. Or trade up for one of the best tackles in the draft. Lance Zierlien was saying 23 and 86 probably could get us to about 17 or 18.
Well, Frank Clark was worth a whole lot. Clowney is better, but Gaine probably lost his best trading partner in the Chiefs.
No defensive player is worth $100 plus million. I think in a few years, gms will see the value in trading star defensive players for future picks.
Clowney isnt going anywhere yet. He will be here for this year, probably next yr as well, then will walk for a 3rd rd comp pick.
Why, what the hell are they doing? So he can be upset and possibly sit out a good chunk of time? They havent even had contact with him from all the reports. This off season has been infuriating.
A lot of people laughed at the raiders for trading Mack but they had the right idea. The bears are idiots. They basically traded away two first round picks for the right to sign Mack to $130 million.
The reports of the Houston FO and Clowney not being in contact has been put out way before the draft. I was repsonding to @Whenitsover, who seems to be somewhat of an insider, who said that he was gonna be here this year.
