I’m not gonna be an early adopter, but this is the future. There’s a reason why modern train locomotives are diesel electric. The Diesel engine is just used as a generator for electricity. Diesel edges out gas when it comes to torque, but those electric engines absolutely smoke diesel when it comes to low RPM torque.

    Man, I'm cheap. We recently bought a 2019 CRV-EXL for $28k. I drive a 2001 Sequoia and a 2007 mercedes. I'm not going to splurge $70k on a car or truck.

Elin said that the official reservation was 146,000 for the Cybertruck as of Saturday.

That's pretty good, correct? If it gets to 200,000 by Monday, $Tesla is going to pop.

At least 60K? You get a pretty well equipped F-250 for 60K.

I'm growing to like it, especially at the 40k base price. I'll wait to see the finished product but I'm a potential buyer.

It only takes a $100 fully refundable deposit to "order" one. You have between now and late 2021 to change your mind.

If it was a $2,000 non refundable deposit, that would change my mind.

Oh, yeah. I'm thinking about making a reservation. That cybertruck is growing on me. All mate black, higher suspension, big tires. I'm likely to go for the $39000 though.

Placed an order for Tri motor with Auto pilot.

Truck with super car acceleration with 500+ mile electric range?

    Sure why not.

I like it and I think it is going to look even better in person.

Retractable gun cannons would look perfect on it.

Gives me childhood flashbacks of a Knight Rider season finale villain...

Future might be here but style is fickle. One day, bluetooth douches are beyond the pale. The next, having little cigarette butts drooping down your ear is seen as a status symbol.

Is there a trim that gifts you the cyberpunk costume to fully own the look you're rocking? That wouldn't be douchy at all.

Honestly, the look is starting to grow on me.

I simply don't do enough hauling to justify the extra 15K for a full size truck (and I'm not one to spend on a huge truck I don't need just to have a huge truck), but if they were to release a cheaper mid size or compact line they might win my business.

i get the feeling these will be mostly driven in suburban settings, ie by soccer moms whose white collar spouses earn above a certain pay grade.

[Musk] even suggested a second, “smaller” version of the Cybertruck would make sense in the “long term.”
    _______

Musk said the company had received more than 200,000 preorders for the vehicle, “with no advertising & no paid endorsement.” All it took was a few smashed windows instead.

Once you go down the Tesla rabbit hole, eventually you realize that the vast majority of the bull**** you read about them online, on social media, is perpetuated by short sellers and merchants of doubt. Not saying they are perfect by any measure, but 90% of what you hear is fabricated.
