I wonder if the Couch family will get a reality show out of all of this.

What an effin douche. No new news, but if the kid "suffered" from "affluenza", why could his parents not pay for his rehab without taxpayer help? Sounds like more Texas-good-ole-boy-bull-****.

I don't mind my sales tax going to rehab for him if it hypothetically sets precedent to benefit some indigent DUI offender. I still get my sweater vests and chocolate-glazed Shipleys, and I imagine there's all kinds of Confederate war memorials or other crap Austin spends it on with this large an electorate.

This kid will never see any real prison time no matter what he does.

I am a liberal yet I have an increasing desire to expand the death penalty to cases like this. What incredible pieces of **** this scumbag and his family are.

Yep, all that money yet they're nothing but white trash - and that's giving white trash a bad name.

On April 13, 2016, a Texas judge tentatively ordered Couch to spend 720 days in jail. He was released from jail on April 2, 2018.

Yeah, it's just crazy to me. What is that - 180 days of jail time for each person he killed?

Penalties on drunk driving are harsher than ever, fatalities from drunk drivers are down, and still 10K people a year die in accidents where the driver was >0.08

What do all of you crime hawks want done to people caught driving impaired with no fatality? Penalties obviously are working so I am assuming as you are outraged about the random outcome of death, the act that cause the death is just as bad right?

    Prison for first DWI?

I used to not care quite as much before I had a kid.

But god help me, if I ever get hit my someone that's drunk and they injure or kill my child, they better hope they kill me in the accident, too.

Not really here to say what penalty it deserves, but there's no excuse. Especially once you've been caught once.
