It's strange that people are hoping that BoB uses DJ in a way that focuses on his skill set ... he forced Lamar up the middle for years and had one of the best pass catching backs in the league in Hyde last season and threw him the ball about 15 times the entire year.

I think your confusing Hyde with someone else...one of the best pass catching backs??

Hyde has only caught more than 20 receptions 2 times in his career.

His best season in 2017 he had 59 receptions -- he has good hands more an issue of injuries and bad situations. I should have qualified my post further -- at any rate he should been used as a three down back much more often in Houston.

You have to judge Hopkins vs. Blacklock, Cook, and David Johnson. Those 3 players are here directly and indirectly because of the Hopkins' trade. We will see.

I thought that was supposed to be Duke Johnson, not Hyde.

it’s the pandemic- we have alt world BO’B who takes a knee, appoints a play caller and rumor has it - learned how to use timeouts.

Nah you have to judge it for exactly what you got back for him. You want to throw Cooks in the equation you might as well throw in Cobb as well.

But if you want to include Cooks, then it’s Hopkins/Van Jefferson vs Blacklock/DJ/Cooks.

Van Jefferson has nothing to do with the Texans. They were never going to draft him.

What the Rams did with that pick is irrelevant.

So in order to accurately judge the Hopkins trade, you’re considering a player BoB got in a separate transaction but not what he gave for that player?

You are probably right that the Texans wouldn’t have drafted Van Jefferson but we didn’t trade Hopkins for Blacklock/DJ/Cooks straight up either. You want to include Cooks in your valuation, then you have to include giving up a 2nd as well.

    No.

You judge what the Texans got against Hopkins. The reason is the Texans offense is what is going to be judged. Also, If Blacklock turns into JJ Watt 2.0.....then the Hopkins' trade is worth it for him alone (I'm not saying he will be JJ Watt 2.0).

    DJ/pick 40 (Blacklock)/Cooks/Cards 2021 4th.

Correct. I personally don’t like judging Cooks as part of the deal but if you do, you have to factor in the 2nd rounder we gave up for him.

Judging Hopkins vs. Blacklock/DJ/Cooks alone is basically saying we got Cooks as part of the trade without giving up anything more.

Really you have to judge the off-season in its entirety. Cooks/ Fuller/ Cobb/ Stills vs Hop/ Fuller/ Stills/ Coutee...David and Duke Johnson vs Hyde/ Duke.

2020 seems like it has more upside on offense and they got a young stud on defense to help anchor that line.

Are we really still talking about this? In on the boat that lets see how it plays out and then judge it all later - at least until after this year - if we do indeed get a full season out of it.

That's what was said about BOB last year, let's see how it goes in the playoffs. After a Chiefs blowout and a bad Bills home game (which was preceded in 2018 by an even worse Colts wild card game), he's now the GM.

    lol.

Imagine u went to school, took 6 classes (6 trades), u completely bomb one class (hopkins trade), and u manage to do meh on the others.

End results = U fking FAILED. there's no averaging the trades into a solid grade, trades don't really work like that. One sht trade doesn't counter a good trade/vice versa.

Doesn't matter Brian. Would have traded him for a 5th Brian.
