That sucks... why would a team source give Schefter that very private info?

When you love your team so much, you would wish for awful things to happen for a change to be made.

In a perfect world though, this wouldn’t need to happen because we wouldn’t have such a shitty team owner like McNair

Statement from Texans’ GM Rick Smith:

“Effective immediately, I have chosen to take an extended leave of absence to focus my attention and intention on my wife's complete recovery from her recent diagnosis of breast cancer. We are faithful and trust in God's promise of healing and Wholeness. I am eternally grateful to the McNair family for their unwavering support during this trying time. This was an extremely difficult decision for me to make as I love this organization and every member of this team both on and off the field. I remain committed to our quest to bring a championship to the city of Houston, yet my family needs me now and they are my priority.”

Very unprofessional of Schefter to release personal information like that.

Prayers out to Rick Smith and his family... I guess this comes out now only because the season is over?

    Extended leave of absence..

Meaning, he can come back in the future and assume his role? Or this another phrase of leaving the organization?

So does this mean smith is coming back to the Texans, when he takes care of his business? If that's the case I can see bill o Brian leaving

This certainly complicates things... but of course it has to be the most convoluted scenario possible.

If BOB is out, they’re going to let Raye coordinate the next coaching search? Dysfunctional to the max.

Prayers for his wife, F*** cancer. Hopefully she beats it. Not how I wanted him to go out or take a leave.

How is it unprofessional to report something that Smith publicly announced?

This enables him to leave and then come back to a more business-like job, without it seeming like a demotion.

Or in the most Texans-like way, it would allow O'Brien to hand pick the GM, both to get fired after next season, and then Smith to resume the role.

Never have I seen an organization operate under such dysfunction and non defined roles so artfully.

aka....he’s going to be moved to another role within the organization.

McNair is too poosy to fire BO’B and he gave Smith the “out” he needed to save face.

    mcNair should cleaned house..

    New coach, new GM..all that!

But no...let’s keep this terrible coach AND give him more power.

    Hahahahaha!

    joke of a franchise.
