Does he think players are stupid? It was a massive haul of draft picks and Miami isn't contending this year

They will have over 100 million available next year once the cap goes up.

Let’s keep in mind they can heavy front load several contracts just to offset future ramifications.

You don’t seem to fully understand the situation.

They could also get all their superstars to play on league minimum, too. But don't bet on it.

There is a reason why teams don't frontload contracts.

Given your superior understanding, maybe you can give me a detailed breakdown of the 2021 cap situation.

    27. HOUSTON TEXANS

The Texans climb out of the dog house to some degree, moving from 31 up to 27 after the Laremy Tunsil trade. The rest of the line is still a mess, including right tackle, where Seantrel Hendersonearned a 52.9 overall grade on 64 snaps this preseason.

Ok. So you built your offense. You’ve had time! Make it great.

This offense has no reason to not be great.

Duke Johnson is a great pickup he’ll help Watson out a lot.

Watson just needs to take that next step and keep progressing like he did his first two seasons. If he can keep do that then all this cap stuff and draft picks won’t matter.

If we can put point on the board our D is okay enough to win big imo.

Honestly it really just depends on the playcalls, we have proven we are explosive enough to score. It's just BoB likes to be conservative when he's in the lead and doesn't like to go for the throat.

    I worry about this

Hopefully with improved OL play BOB will feel empowered to take more risks.

Are you saying they cant find 3 guys out of the five picks they will have in rds 2 thru 5. Or they dont have the ability to trade back into the 1st rd to get a player they really like?

How about if a talented guy like Greedy Williams falls to the top of the 2nd do you think the Texans could trade one of their 3rds to move up and pick him? If they did this they would still have a 3rd/two 4th's to get the depth you think they are going to lose.

For all of you capologists, Of which I'm certainly not one, Tell me how much the cap is going to go up in 3 years. Cap space shouldn't be an issue.

I've stated in other posts the Texans still have the ability to add plenty of depth pieces next off season. Tunsil is the 2020 1st. They gave up a 2021 1st for Tunsil. The 2021 2nd is offset by Stills (Who gives 2 years of Fuller insurance) and a 4th plus 6th rd picks.

Anything is possible. You can theoretically walk into any casino in Vegas and pick the winning number on the roulette wheel seven times in a row. I wouldn't suggest doing so with your life savings as a legitimate retirement strategy.

They could draft all-pros with each of their picks in rounds 3-7 next year. If you'd like to bet on that outcome I'd be happy to give you generous 10-1 odds against. Let me know if you'd like to put some money down. If they can pull this off I will gladly genuflect before an altar to BOB.

If trading first round picks for players on their second contract wasn't a sucker's bet people would do it regularly. They dont. But hey, theoretically every once in a while someone has to hit on the slot machines in the Vegas airport. I dont know of anybody whose ever seen it but it must be theoretically possible.

Stills has an $8 million cap hit. It wont kill them, as they have so much room ATM but I would have difficulty with justifying the 5th highest salary on your team being paid to your #4 reciever.

I imagine that next year when Tunsil's cap figure increases by about $8 million, they will cut loose Stills' $9 million if he wont take a huge haircut.

In other words it would surprise me a little bit if he plays out all of his contract. It was always set up as easy to jettison after the second year by Miami when they negotiated it.

BoB and the Texans are 31-1 when leading at halftime. There are a lot of things you can criticize about BoB, I’m not sure being conservative with a lead is one of them

Hope this Tunsil deal works out because his AV in pro-football reference has him rated lower than Duane Brown was his first three seasons. Tunsil hasn't even been a ProBowler yet. Everybody makes the ProBowl.

This move is similar to the Rockets and Westbrook. Overpay for goods to counteract another mistake (sh1tty drafting/bad contracts).
