[Sports Teams] Team Sports where you only follow a player not a team

    Sports where you root/follow for player(s) only not a particular team.

    For example I have always been a CR7 fan, he was on Real Madrid for nine years and now he left for Juventus. So I will be following Juventus instead of Real Madrid.


    MLB - I follow players (Don't have a fav team).
    Soccer- I follow players (CR7)
    NHL - Dallas Stars
    NBA- I follow Players (Don't have a fav team)
    NFL- LA Chargers - Raised as a Chargers fan so always been my #1 NFL team.
    NCAA- A&M, secondary ( Oregon, Wisconsin, Va Tech, Cal)

    Tom Brady and former Texas football players. I have stake in the NFL other than that.

    Never followed players and I do not like individual sports. How do you decide to root for someone you don't relate to? I get it, you're attracted to Ronaldo, but other than that.

    I only do that for the rare superstar from UTEP. In my lifetime, that was primarily Tim Hardaway with the Warriors then the Heat. Those were my 2nd favorite teams, behind the Rockets. I rooted for Antonio Davis and the Pacers, too. I'll root for other Miners (usually role players in the NFL) to do well, but not enough to support their team. If we ever produced a start QB that went pro, though, that might make a difference.

    I've noticed it's usually my female friends who root for individual players and have no idea about the rest of the team.

    I've rooted against teams because of individual players, never for.

    I root for the Astros, Rockets, Dynamo on occasion and (bless their hearts) the Texans. All the other teams are just enemies for the Houston teams to beat.

    I'm a bandwagon Houston fan. If your sport has a Houston team, then I may care. Otherwise, it's of no concern to me. Before the Texans existed, didn't give a damn about the NFL.

    I’m a Texans fan, but I enjoy watching Rodgers play because he’s as close to perfection as we’ve ever seen at the QB position.
