Srsly? An infantile fantasy done without consult of our actual military or space tech experts. Next? LOL
It is the most ambiguous do nothing phrase of the day You cannot get alot of information about it Why? What *exactly* is the point of it? What are they 'protecting'? Who are they 'protecting' it from? What will it *do*? On a day to day basis At the end of the day . . .What the f*ck? Rocket River
I have no opinion on 'Trumps' Space Force. Major nations have been going in this direction for awhile now. This isnt some james bond fantasy of soldiers in space shooting at each other. The bigger issue is protecting our assets in space, both military and commercial. Its less about weaponizing space and more about protecting, much like how the USCG protects our coasts. People dont realize how vulnerable satellites are in space and never consider the day to day usage they have in our lives on a daily basis. For example, the US already tracks all the space debris. We notify other nations when their assets in space run a risk of impact. Space Force idea could have been the result from a decision last year when the Army spontaneously decided to suspend the development of their WIN-T program that was dependent on the decade development of their WGS platform. Essentially we have state-of-the-art advanced weaponry but when it comes to communications, we are still deploying communication system from well over a decade ago and our 'advanced' communication systems that have yet deployed are already falling behind. Our current systems are slow, outdated and very vulnerable to jamming. Communications has been a very big concern not just in military applications, but law enforcement also. It works fine for operations like Afghanistan and Iraq, but its a completely different story when it comes to Russia and China. https://breakingdefense.com/2017/09/army-plans-to-halt-win-t-buy-shuffle-network/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wideband_Global_SATCOM
Space debris and security of satellites is an important issue. If trump and his admin had focused on this it would have had wide-spread support. Unfortunately, trump is an idiot and wanted something that he could clam as legacy, spins out this "space force" boondoggle that has no focus and little support.
EPISODE IV SPACE FARCE The Evil Trumpian Empire, in its bid to distract rural voters who have no cable TV....
Trump does what Trump does best ... chums the water. I did laugh a little when I heard about it, not about the absurdity, but in a couple decades when we actually have something like this, it will always be remembered as 'Trumps idea'. As I mentioned, this idea is not brand new. Trump got wind of it and attached himself to this idea that was already floating about.
if jets are stealth and the enemy can't see them, is the pilot also invisble? asking for a friend because wonder woman rides in an invisible jet but you can still see her. Scientific evidence:
I think the name is silly (If that will be the name of it) and that we should be spending way more on Space exploration and discovery than building weapons in space. Yes, we do have assets in space but we could have a lot more if we could actually...like...do **** in space. I'd rather put someone on Mars than defend a satellite...with that said it's not a bad idea at all considering and I think had it been titled better it would not seem like a joke. It's a very serious proposal and it honestly ought to be.
Because of aliens duh lmao. I agree with what @Space Ghost said. It’s not a new idea and not actually that ridiculous just cuz trump said it. We should have a military in space to compete with other countries and have an upper hand
To an extent, I think this could just be further advancement for Air Force but guess it needs its own branch according to trump
We already have air FORCE, so I dont like the name. Space raiders, ozone corp, or orbit astros would be my picks.
another shiny object to divert attention away from Mueller investigation, Fredo's legal jeopardy Manafort trial michael cohen trial, Trump campaign's hush $ paid to a p*rn actress and playboy playmate Trump's child separation practice
For those saying the Space Force is not needed because the Air Force already has the US Space Command, the Air Force itself did not exist until 1947. Prior to that, it was part of the Army, as the Army Air Corps. Using that logic, one could say the Air Force as a separate branch was not needed. There is ample rationale for a separate branch of the military focused entirely on space.
