    That is what I thought of. I am wondering if his condition is so rare why UCLA or some other teaching hospital won't help to defray some of the cost of his treatment for research purposes.

    When I worked in a hospital pharmacy making IV's, I had to go into patients' rooms to check how much they had left in their IV's in order to determine how much to make for the next 24 hour period. One day I walked into some guy's room that had elephantitis in all the wrong places and thought the dude had crapped a couple of coconuts. I had to step outside and compose myself... I couldn't. I just made sure he had enough for the next 2 days. God bless nurses - that's all I'll say.
