Makes sense due to the presence of Aaron Gordon and Bismack being there for the long haul and Ibaka being a free agent this year. I expect the Rockets to be in the mix for him at the deadline. The only question is what we would have to give up for him.
Milsap & Ibaka FINALLY become available the same year we finally added y'alls beloved stretch 4. Ibaka is 38% on the year from 3. I prefer rebounds and defense (not just sexy blocks).
A rental who would be willing to sign long term with a contender while reuniting with a former teammate. No chance he stays in Orlando past this season.
I'd rather a rental and win now. Ibaka is most def an upgrade to what we currently have. Rebounding is a major weakness.
Why trade for him, and *also* pay him later, when you can just buy him this summer, without a premature trading of assets?
Orlando wants young talent in return and seeing that they won't contend this year and are not satisfied with their PG position I can see them trading for the rights to Llull, KJ, Brew, and a future 2nd round pick. No team will give up too much only bc of the fear that Serge is only a rental. A lineup of: Harden BEV Ariza Anderson Ibaka Makes too much sense not to do. All are 3 point shooters!
what premature trading of assets? They're just sitting in the bench. This is a solid team that needs major boost, Ibaka can fill in that role. Why keep those "assets" now? Plus if Ibaka plays well here, I'm not opposed to talking a contract with him. That's just me though.
Are you willin to have basically 50 million in salary cap on Anderson and Ibaka? Because this is a very possible scenario. Also, the fact that the Magic are already trying to unload him should tell you something...they don't want to pay him because they don't think he's worth it. Ibaka is not a great rebounder though, and he's certainly not a player who will make us a real contender.
the orlando magic aren't exactly the model for anyone to base off who is worth it and who isn't so it doesn't tell anyone that much
Sure worked well for the Thunder though, contenders just about every year. Not saying he is the answer to our problems but a huge boost. As far as rental, why not make the move?
Lol this is true but still...in fact, i think they got basically screwed in the first place because they were sure they were getting a star or something similar, and i think others will do the same mistake now, i just hope we're not one of them.
