Finally... though it appears Russia getting caught attacking the UK pushed the sanctions to be announced...

U.S. sanctions Russia for 2016 election interference and other cyber activity

Good, this is good news, and we take what we can get. It's almost like our government is functioning sensibly for a few hours. LOL.

As with anything involving this administration, I am waiting to see if there is a catch. These sanctions we’re announced and include entities Mueller has targeted but we have to see if the sanctions are actually implemented. Trump will make moves for the headlines and then nothing happens while our media often fails to follow up on the story.

Putin’s moves haven’t given Trump much wiggle room here. But I don’t trudt Trump to not try to wriggle out of seriously punishing Russia.

Edit: How extensive are these announced sanctions?

From Michael Carpenter, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense who handles Russia related matters:

I fully expect Trump to protect his patrons, including people close to Putin’s inner circle, as much as he can.

The significance of the Russian attack on the UK can't be understated...

Allies, others question Trump's response to spy's poisoning
