Today in the NY Post I read this... * T'wolves GM Kevin McHale said the Rockets made a late play for Sprewell: "[Jeff] Van Gundy was trying to get him in Houston, doing everything he could to get the guy and he had him for four years." Wow...who would have thought??
if we would have traded Cat for Spree, i'd have started rooting for the Jazz.............ok, maybe thats pushin it, but close!
I agree. I'd say there's a trade in the works. I believe Les wants to make a splash but Pike isn't much of a splash. He's a good addition but not jaw dropping.
I don't understand this, people want Mobley gone badly, and here you would have traded Mobley for what people consider a "true" SG coming up on a contract year and people are upset? Trade Mobley now but not for him, or him. When the Rockets finally trade Mobley it's probably going to be in a deal similar to this, for another guard. It's going to be hard to get a big man for Mobley.
I think its safe to say Mobley was the guy we offered. It likely came down to NY perferring KVH to Cat.
Well, duh. They already have Allen Houston. What would they do with Cat? That makes no sense. Mayble it was Rice? That would be more desperate.
That doesn't mean Van Gundy is the one on the phone pondering different ways and situations and calling other GM's to try and make a deal happen. All he does is say "hey, CD, get me Spreewell" and then CD does all of the work.
Are you crazy???...Spreewell is ten times the player Cat will ever will be...Living in NY I have seen this thug win the hearts of an entire city. This guy gives his flesh and blood for the team, he does whatever the team needs like playing out of position. Not only is he a high energy guy, who actually takes the ball to the hoop unlike Cat. He is aggressive, and a guaranteed fan favorite. And all this and not even adding his tremendous defense (needed for the likes of Kobe). He also has only 2 years left on his contract. The only negative is his age, otherwise ANY team in the nba would love to have spreewell on their team.
Im talking about throwing down some mad tomohawk jams that Spree is well known for...while screaming at the crowd with the intensity and emotion he is well known for. His natural emotional game would have been a tremendous asset for the likes of the quiet Griffin or Yao. Spree and Stevie would make one heck of a backcourt
No f*cking way I take spree over cat I can recall one of the Rocket vs NY games and cat stuck to spree like glue and burned his azz.
